Participatory ephemeral intervention - Ice, coffee, drought-affected plant, water, and watering can

The work presents a drought-affected plant inside a plant pot made of ice. Beside it, a watering can invites the public to perform an everyday gesture of care: watering the plant.

But the gesture comes too late. The plant is already dry, and the water, rather than helping it recover, speeds up the melting of the pot that holds it. The attempt to care for the plant thus contributes to the disappearance of the work itself.

The piece uses this contradiction to reflect on the climate crisis and the way we respond to situations that are approaching a point of no return.

Watering a dead plant highlights the gap between the desire to act and the real possibility of changing the situation. At the same time, the melting caused by this gesture points to measures that attempt to address the problem without tackling its root causes.

The action takes place in a public space in Madrid, where the piece gradually transforms and disappears in front of passers-by. Heat, the passage of time and public participation become part of the work, making visible a process of loss that, once underway, can no longer be stopped.

La obra presenta una planta afectada por la sequía dentro de un macetero de hielo. Junto a la pieza, una regadera con agua invita al público a realizar un gesto cotidiano de cuidado: regar la planta.

Sin embargo, ese gesto llega tarde. La planta ya está seca y el agua de riego, en lugar de revertir la situación, acelera el deshielo del recipiente que la sostiene. El intento de cuidar contribuye así a la desaparición de la propia pieza.

La obra parte de esta contradicción para hablar de la crisis climática y de nuestra forma de responder ante situaciones que se acercan a un punto irreversible.

Regar una planta muerta plantea el desfase entre la voluntad de actuar y la posibilidad real de transformar la situación. A su vez, el deshielo provocado por este gesto alude a medidas que intentan responder al problema sin abordar sus causas de fondo.

La acción tiene lugar en el espacio público de Madrid, donde la pieza se transforma y desaparece a la vista de los transeúntes. El calor, el paso del tiempo y la participación del público forman parte de la obra, haciendo visible un proceso de pérdida que, una vez iniciado, ya no puede detenerse.
